I'm trying to remember that and focus more on the moments and when I'm with people, actually being there with them. I'm a person that multi-tasks when I do everything, and I'm determined to be slower and better focused on people next year. So being "in the moment" is my motto for 09. We only have so many moments in this life, that I want to take advantage of them!
Would you mind sharing what got you to thinking about being in the "moment' it's a concept that I would have never even got, aside from reading about some eastern philosophies.

I don't know. I figure as long as someone gets their work done, does the errands and keeps their affairs (not that kind) in order, it's fine.

I need constant mental stimulus, so I can almost count on CD for that.

I definitely wouldn't say I'm addicted to it but its a great way to kill time. Since lately I'm mostly on via my cellphone, its a great way to discourage people from talking to me Its also a great distraction. Right now, I've called my wedding off, and instead of going out with friends to get my mind off of it, I've chosen to partake in my two vices: online shopping and CD. But I too agree with living in the moment. Chow, I think your question can be answered with the following quote: "life is what happens when you're busy planning your future". It simply means don't take anything for granted, including tomorrow.

While I still enjoy C-D and check in hoping to find something interesting, I've gotten a little bored with what I've been reading.

Default Are you a 'CD Addict?" - How much time do you spend here?

Lately, I've found myself spending more and more time on CD ... so much so that I'm thinking, "It's time to back-off and go find something more meaningful or productive to do!" My wife has also started to notice.

Actually, I still play golf, read, teach and other retired stuff during the day, but at night, I've been parking myself with my computer in my lap and ... well, I'm not at the "get a life" stage yet, but this is really addictive!!

CD is very interesting and presents the opportunity to exchange ideas on a host of topics, but, beyond simply passing time, what's the point? When I see others constantly texting on their phones ... regardless of what else is going on - OR look at the CD stats showing thousands of posts for some CD Posters, - or look at some of the mindless posts: 'What are you eating right now? .. What will the next person say? ... etc. ------- I think, "you really need to 'get a real life' ... or at least, "when do you have time to do anything else in your life?"

Am I becoming a CD 'addict/junkie' -- or how would one measure such a thing?

CD is very interesting and presents the opportunity to exchange ideas on a host of topics, but, does it really qualify as a meaningful or productive use of one's time. Also, I sometimes watch others constantly texting on their phones ... regardless of what else is going on - and think, "you really need to 'get a real life'.

Well I'm no where near retired (41) but until I started working again (bell ringing for Salvation Army 10hrs/6days a week) I spent a lot of time on here. Now, it's two days a week for a total of maybe eight hours. So if you still golf, read, teach and other stuff, you're not a junkie yet. Before I started working I would spend hours and hours several days a week. I'm SO glad to be working again. Though it's seasonal, I'll be getting my license back from these paychecks and will be driving for the transit system in this county. I'll be here much less now.

Unless someone of great importance with major pull reads these threads/posts and actually learns from what the American people (as well as other countries' people) are saying, then it's purely a time passer.

I think you can skip CDA for now.

Maybe and that's not such a bad thing. Seriously I think that many of us that come to CD often do so to connect with friends on our favorite threads. We all want to see what each other has been up to during the day. That doesn't necessarily mean we all spend all of our day on here many like myself take breaks during the day and check in just to see what is happening. Speaking for myself I log on to see if there is anything new to learn in my favorite threads, perhaps post if I think I can add something to the conversation or help out in any way. I am going to take a leap here and speak for myself and others I know we all lead very busy and productive lives and coming to CD is a great stress reliever either during the day or at the end of the day. So log on and enjoy.
