Be careful out there, DontH8me. I'd probably ask around, but I certainly can see your predicament.
Years ago I was out very early walking the dog, and found a huge wad of cash on a lawn.
Then I found a shoe.
Further up, I saw police officers standing around, and an ambulance being loaded up. A man had been badly beaten, perhaps to death.
I probably could have kept the money, but I gave it to the cops.
I do agree about karma--and this was more like blood money.
Sorry about the sign idea - I was thinking about my area. LA area has another way of life. Perhaps you should just look at the money as a gift from the universe. You have caused no harm. Have you wished for something? Enjoy.

I sort of did think it was a gift from the universe - the location was right in front of the tarp that had been torn apart by the wind the night before. I was up on a ladder in freezing gale force winds that dark night trying to pull in the part that separated from the awning and flapping away like old glory - no one plans to spend their Christmas evening that way. By the time I secured the torn off piece, I was chilled to the bone and my legs were shaking. Maybe the money is to replace the tarp?
That sum sounds like a child's/young person's gift money. Could you make a small sign - LOST MONEY? - and place it in your yard for a few days?
One of my friends gave my Granddaughter a twenty dollar bill that she quickly stuck into her back pocket. While we were at a store, a woman came up to us to say that the money way hanging out of her pocket.
Someone puts up a "Lost Money" sign in their yard and you'll have everybody in town knocking on your front door.
I would keep the money and do what I wanted with it. I would never ask anybody if they lost some money because they are of course going to say "yeah, I lost some money." If anybody came around later asking if I found some money, that they had lost X amount of money, I would probably admit that I found some money and write them a check or go get cash at the bank to replace the amount I actually did find. If they lost say, $500.00 but I only found $20.00, I would only pay them the $20.00 that I found.
One evening I was driving up to an ATM with my kids and said, "I wish I had twenty more dollars". Then when we were at the drive-upo ATM, my son saw a 20 dollar bill on the ground!
Because of the neighborhood that you live in, you should just keep the money, IMO, unless you hear that some child lost it. If I was a bigger amount, yes, I would say turn it in. But $25 isn't worth the effort- some cop would take it, thank you for your honesty and pocket it.
