Default The packaging on kid's toys these days-what a pain in the a**!

Well Christmas is over and I just have to say I am very annoyed and frustrated by the packaging on kid's toys today...all the screws and twisties and whatnot, not to mention the waste afterward that can't be recycled and ends up in the landfills- the boxes, styrofoam, plastic liners, etc. I hate having to spend 10 minutes trying to remove a toy from its box (and screws, twisties, etc.) while my impatient child stands by whining because I'm taking too long! Why do toy companies do this??!! A few people told me its to defer theft, but if someone wants to steal a toy I think they would just steal it with the box and all (unless it's very big.) Anyone else feel the same?

Oh yeah all the packages are so hard to open, gotta have a sharp knife or good sissors to get to the good stuff. i think I had enough trash to fill a landfill, we've been trying to recycle as much as we can.

You put up with your kid whining? Jeez! Try taking control. You're the adult.

Beaten by a box, no less.

Man, you have a rough life! ROTFLMAO

God I love Christmas.

I wonder if its part of job creation in China and where ever else the toys are made.
On a funny story I got a sword (42")a few years ago and it was like fort knox. I had to get a little 3" blade to cut her open and I sliced my hand open pretty good. How Ironic eh :P

It's not just toys - it's EVERYTHING. There's a funny meme on the Internet about a pair of scissors that come in a molded plastic container with an illustration on the packaging showing a pair of scissors being used to cut the SCISSORS out of the packaging.

If shoplifting is so much of a problem, then items should be placed in a display case and shown to true customers by a salesperson - LIKE IN THE OLD DAYS. The other issue is that most of this crap is coming on a boat from China.

I purposefully do not buy products encased in plastic for two reasons 1) I get hurt trying to remove the product from the plastic and 2) it's wasteful and not recyclable. I recently started a thread over a "holiday box" of gin I received encased in such indelible garbage I had to use a saw to open it, and the packaging was worthless trash - dyed blue and not recyclable. I won't support it.

I call those type of packages "adult proof". So now anytime my son gets a toy with that type of packaging he says, "oh look mom it's adult proof better let me open it" ! LOL

Make the person that sells it to you open it for you. It should part of customer service.

Hmmmmm, I think I'll start another business. What would you pay me to open the damn thing and handle the recycle, etc?

I don't have any kids myself, but I must admit that I've heard people complain about this about one million times.
But people have a right to complain about this, but I bet the toy company's just enjoy hearing the world complain sense they have to much money to care about thoose kind of problems.
