OK, here is the question. Which side do you consider left and right. If you are lying on the bed face down, with your left arm hanging off.

Do you consider that the left or right side of the bed?

I say left, but from talking to others I am in the minority.

Stand at the foot of the bed and then decide which is L or R.

Looking from the foot of the bed, I sleep on the left side. I'm left-handed, no wonder why I keep knocking my water off the night stand!

Don't know about beds but on most things left & right are determined from the user's perspective. In that case it would depend on if you normally sleep on your back or stomach.

There is a logical scientific answer to all problems and this is a very easy. All beds have a “head” and “foot”. All people sleep with their head matching the head of the bed and their feet at the foot of the bed. Most people sleep on their back (or should) thus as you lay down in bed asleep ~ the right hand is on your right side, left hand is on the left side.

I have spent a lot of time testing this problem out over the years and sleeping as often as possible ~ so I consider myself an expert on the topic. I speak from years and years many times a day of sleeping so I honestly speak with authority.

Lay in bed with your head to the head of the bed and your facing the ceiling ~ left is always on the other side of the bed and right is always the side I fall out of at night.

The real problem here is to make sure you are sleeping in YOUR own bed.

There’s another side issue that needs to be discussed in a separate topic of who’s on top and who’s on the bottom when this left – right issue is being considered.

All I know is my husband is always on the wrong side of the bed, and I am always on the right side.

I never sleep on my back, and heaven help my DH when he does. He snores and snores. Don't care what Mr. Nebraska backwards, says on this subject, as I stand at the foot of my bed and look at that wonderful, comforting welcoming, sorry, carried away here, anyway the left is on my left and the right is n my right as I face the bed.
