We got to help a single Mom of two who's car was totaled. She was a few hundred short of purchasing a used car and has to start a new job Monday. We felt very good.

My wife phoned her mother and she'll be able to come an visit next month. She'll stay about four or five weeks over the holidays and enjoy getting out of the cold winter back home. I always enjoy seeing and visiting with her mom, and this year it's special because she'll be 90 years young so we can celebrate her birthday while she's here.  |

Making a simple phone call to a friend who could help out with his truck and trailer to take a car that needed repairs into the shop for another person Mrs. Aks knows. A single mother of three with a car that broke down across town needed help getting it to the shop and one phone call fixed the problem for her. It's nice to know people who'll help out at times. |

First round of kids was expected to show up on the doorstep around 11:00 tonight. They pulled in around 4 this afternoon. It was a rousing game of "Trivial Pursuit" tonight. (DW and I won for the first time in many, many years ) |

We were shopping yesterday and saw a Salvation Army bell ringer and his kettle. He was not just standing there ringing his bell and saying thank you, he had a bell in each hand and was smiling and DANCING around on the sidewalk. As you approached, he greeted you, talked about the beautiful weather, wished you a pleasant shopping experience, and just generally made you feel good. I don't know how anyone who was financially able could possibly have walked by without making a donation.  |
