How many scales do you have in your house?

I once had a talking scale. Every time I used it, it said, "Would one of you please get off?".

1968 - Country's 1st 911 phone system went into service in Haleyville, Ala

... and some people, when told to call 911, still ask what the number is!

What plans do you have for today?

We have a guy coming over to give us a quote on refacing kitchen cabinets, replacing countertops and sink, etc. After that, nothing much. Just hoping for a quiet day.

Wow, another early one! Thanks, Karla, those of us who head out to work early really appreciate it.

Today's Question(S):

What plans do you have for today ?

(lol this is a friendlier less pressure version of the "Whats on your To Do list")

Going to work as usual. We wound up financials on Friday, so today is when I circle back and address all the things that popped up during those two weeks of 12-hour days when I didn't have time to get my head out ledger work. Need to update my staff's performance measures and start putting together the agenda for the monthly department meeting, too. So it'll be a busy one, just not frenetic, typical for the second half of the month.

Bonus Question:

How many scales do you have in your house ?

We have a food scale in the kitchen. That's the only one.

When was the last time you were on a "people scale" ?
The last time I was in for my annual exam, close to a year ago.

Extra Credit Question:

In Honor of "do a Grouch a Favor Day"

Who is the grouchiest person you know ?

That dubious distinction goes to someone in my office. The individual fortunately is not in my department, but is someone with whom I must work occasionally. The person gives me renewed appreciation for my other colleagues on a regular basis.

What is your favorite trick to avoid above mentioned "grouch" ?
Well, avoidance is not really feasible, given that we work together and need to collaborate on certain tasks. It's more a question of knowing how to approach the individual. I never, ever initiate a conversation after about mid-morning, as the grouchiness increases as the day goes on, and I always lard the dialog with plenty of positive feedback, appreciation for the assistance, eagerness to reduce the individual's work load and stress, etc. It actually works pretty effectively. I get greater cooperation from this person than anyone in my position prior to now has been able to achieve. But it sure takes an awful lot of energy that I'd rather be investing elsewhere.
