Do you ever watch the movie version of books you have read ? Yes... and each and every time I'm disappointed. The Notebook? Horrible compared to the book, Jurrasic Park, horrible compared to the book; The General's Daughter, movie didn't even follow the book, A Walk to Remember, the movie ending wasn't what the book was, at all!
I don't know why I bother.

Member of Sam's Club,
Iam, I am! Is there any item(s) you regularly buy there ?
The list is long. All laundry products. Cheese. Several varieties. (We save enough money, on cheese to pay for gas, to make the 120 mile trip.)
Extra Credit Question:
How many "throw" rugs do you have in your home ?
I can see 5, from where I sit. Still have the ''snowman'' rugs out, for winter. A farmer's wife NEVER has enough rugs!

1879 Constantine Fahlberg discovers saccharin the artificial sweetener
1908 - Star #46 was added to U.S. flag for Oklahoma Ok sing it with my now "ooohhhhh Kla hom-a! where the winds come sweeping down the plan..." personal motto: never pass up a song cue.
1960 - "Family Circle" comic strip debuted in newspapers. When "Family Circle" magazine complained, cartoonist Bil Keane renamed it "The Family Circus". And will someone please answer me this, how many times is that kid gonna go around the block, in and out of things on and off even more things just to go 10 feet? I just get tired looking at all the places he goes.

[quote=Karla with a K;7652252] Do you ever watch the movie version of books you have read ? Sure. But I agree w/ Miguelsmom. My mental image beats out whatever the movie mogul puts on the screen. Practical Magic came close though!
I have a BJ's card for gasoline mostly. Jury still out as to any real savings.
Two dogs and a yard still not completely filled in yet = MUD. Throw rugs help me to keep it down a bit. Pop 'em in the wash & I'm back in business.

Today's Question: Do you ever watch the movie version of books you have read ? Sometimes. I am usually disappointed with the sometimes drastic and often unsatisfactory changes that are made by what I think of as "Hollywood-types," i.e. -all flash, little substance screenplay adaptors.
As I kid I was impressed with how much more content, thought and feelings there are in the written form of any film. Specifically, one of my brothers got his hands on the book version of Star Wars (even movies made for screen will have a novelization.) I was surprised at how much more substance the story had as a text.
Not that I'm saying that was great literature - I was just a kid at the time, after all.
Bonus Question:
Do you belong to any of the "warehouse club" stores ?
Have had memberships to Sam's once upon a time, but never used them. They expired. They were via an employer.
Extra Credit Question:
How many "throw" rugs do you have in your home ? The only bona fide throw rugs are tossed over the back of a couch. They are used as blankets when it is a bit cold, but not enough to crank up the heat.
Other than that the front and back doors have small rugs in front of them, though I don't think of them as throw rugs, per se. Today in History:
1867 - Dr. William G. Bonwill of Philadelphia, PA invented the dental mallet - Um, should we be glad about that?
2007 - The first "daily exercise thread" was posted on CD -a great day in history, surely.
Word of the Day: hidebound \HAHYD-bound\, adjective: narrow-minded and stubborn Just used this word the other day. A great old-fashioned English word.
Today is:
International Polar Bear Day -I love to watch the polar bears at the zoo, even though I know they would cheerfully devour me if given the opportunity!
