When you go out to eat with other people, do you

Split the check in equal parts
If we are not paying for the whole thing we would probably either split equally or get separate checks. About the only ppl we go out to dinner with though are my parents, and we usually pay because they paid for us for so many years, and my dad is out of work. I am so happy every time we take them out to dinner.
Pay for what you ordered

Bonus Question:

What do you do when you are nervous ?
let's see, i know my blood pressure rises, foot starts tapping, I get short tempered, etc..........
Extra Credit Question :

Do you have a lot of cookbooks ?
I don't know how many is a lot. I have a bunch, and no many of them I don't use. I like to buy them and read them from cover to cover.
Do you use them ? Some of them are staples and others I haven't made a thing from, just got ideas.

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite Cold Cut ? Roast beef, followed by turkey.

Gobble Gobble!

MotorMaker, can you elaborate on how it happens 8 times in a century? In the forumula (month * day) = year, as in the example you mentioned, if you take the numbers 1 through 9, and square them, theoretically, you should get a number that has a square root, including 1, therefore, I would think the Nation Square Root Day happens 9 times.

Checking in late again, I fear.... ah, well, better late than never. Karla, I hope your new front door is installed and beautiful.

Today's Question(s):

When you go out to eat with other people, do you

Split the check in equal parts
Pay for what you ordered

Depends on who we're dining with. If it's our kids (with or without their significant others), we pay. If it's our friends who join us for theater and concerts occasionally, we generally take turns picking up the tab. If I go out with my co-workers, we each whip out our calculators and break down the bill to the penny (we're all accountants) so each pays only for what we ate, plus tip. Don't think I've ever just divided the total equally, unless it was something like pizza.

Bonus Question:

What do you do when you are nervous ?

I get knots in my stomach and my heart pounds hard enough to jump right out of my chest.

Extra Credit Question :

Do you have a lot of cookbooks ?

Ha! Silly question... we have an entire bookshelf full of 'em, right next to the kitchen table, and they're overflowing into other shelves and locations elsewhere in the house. They include my mom's first cookbook from the 1940's, several Weight Watchers cookbooks, a NY Times cookbook, editions by Paul Prudhomme and Graham Kerr, a bunch by Jeff Smith, probably 2 dozen or more of various ethnic cooking styles (Russian, German, Mexican, Indian, Middle-eastern, Chinese, Irish, and I don't remember what all else), La Rousse Gastronomique, several dozen specialty cookbooks (all vegetarian, all bread, all tarts, all chocolate, etc) and a goodly collection of community fundraiser cookbooks that we've collected over the years. Why do you think I spend so much time over in the foodie forum?!!

Do you use them ?
All the time. We don't necessarily follow a given recipe precisely, but we often browse through a cookbook looking for a particular seasoning combination or way of preparing food. Many's the time that my entire family - me, spouse and our two kids - have sat around the kitchen table each reading a different cookbook and trading comments and ideas that we find. And our kids, a son and a daughter both in their 20's, are excellent cooks in their own right.

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite Cold Cut ?

I'm not really a fan of cold cuts. I guess braunschweiger would be my preference, if I were to eat a lunch-type sliced meat.

Unless it is Wed. night, we always take MIL out to eat and DH pays for it.
She goes with us every wed. since FIL passed away.

I go to the bathroom, numerous times.

Do you have a lot of cookbooks ?

Yes I do but no one uses them, DH is my personal chef and his mom taught him the old fashion way. ( a dash of this and that, no measurements)

When you go out to eat with other people, do you

Pay for what you ordered
don't go out that much, if I do, it's with 1 friend only, not a group
we only eat out at lunch times (cheaper) and we get seperate checks
unless it's the week around her birthday then I pay, and if it's around mine, she pays

Bonus Question:

What do you do when you are nervous ?
don't normally get nervous, I look at things this way, if it happens, it happens and that was the way it was meant to be, so why stress over it

Extra Credit Question :

Do you have a lot of cookbooks ?
I have one that I bought from someone, it was made up by some church in NC or SC (not sure which without looking at it) I like to look through it to get ideas

Do you use them ? I will look thought it to get ideas of what to add and approx how much, but I hate measuring anything, just pour it in and hope it turns out right

Just for Fun:

What is your favorite Cold Cut ?
I don't think I have ever bought any cold cuts
but when people bring things to work or at some place that I'm eating that has them, I like the ham
