California Rant
To the couple ahead of me in line:
I noticed you were buying king crab legs.
I was buying generic mayonnaise.
Your wife had real Uggs on... not the knock off Costco ones I have... the real deal. She had a Burberry jacket on, too. Her highlights looked very expensive. Your designer jeans and jacket looked really nice... as did your nice chic haircut. Those rings on your fingers were especially eyecatching. So were the food stamps.
I'm sorry if I offended you dressed in my sweatshirt I was wearing... had it a few years... bought it and my sweats at the Thrift Store. We have had to cut back - so I cut my husbands hair, stopped coloring mine, and we wear what we already have. If I wear anything new (which is RARE) - it is from Costco. We are trying to be financially conservative and pay our mortgage. We're trying to be good citezens and not burden other taxpayers by defaulting on our payments. So we'll keep paying our taxes so you can have your crab legs with your Danish Creamery butter in your nice little SUV. So special.

I used to see that a lot back in Scottsdale (AZ), and I didnt care. It happens, so I just shrug it off. Only thing is, my clothes are thrift-store, not Costco, so thats even a lower life-form (in some peoples eyes). Oh well..... *shrug*

Don't worry OP, when they go back to the hood after collecting their food stamps, they'll get their ass*es robbed and all that Gucci, Uggs stuff crap will be sold at a black market by you and they'll sell it to you at a discount price
how do you like them apples

Haha...!!
Well - I didn't care enough to say anything... common decency overruled any anger I had. Most of my clothes are thrift store, too. It just kind of irked me. The crab legs got to my hubby worse than the highlights and clothing. Funny. Night of sleep cooled my angst.

What's funnier is getting all Gucci'd up to go to your local WIC... that's like putting on your glamour gown to go to McDonald's or Burger King or 7-Eleven (whichever one you like). You could have looked at it that way, I have an off-beat sense of humor so I look at things that bothered others differently.
These are not the same people that called 911 because their McNuggets weren't delivered, are they? They don't need a designer boots, coat, clothes---they need a designer strait-jacket.
 he he...

Um, 'hood'? Seen it in the in the burbs so many times, it hurts (like Livewire in Scottsdale). Neighbor worked for social services for 25 years. It happens all over. Especially if a sugar daddy dumps them -- they drive up right to Social Svcs. in a nice shiney Mercedes, with a DB purse, manicure and 2 toeheads, 2 ct. engagement ring still on the finger. They will never sell the purse, it's part of the 'the look' to catch another investor, ahem, sugar daddy; and the 'highlights', well, that's another story ... Many haven't earned income in who-knows-how-long, so they qualify for TANF with years of zero income + 2 kids; or cash under the table; or so little income that it might as well be zero. Sometimes the accessories are knock offs, but sadly, many times it isn't.

Thanks, Jennerbear! You posted what a LOT of us silly, responsible, mortgage-paying, financially conservative folks are thinking! Best to you and hubby!
