Make St Patrick's Day official!
Guinness is offering the chance to sign a petiton called Proposition 3-17 to make St. Patrick's Day an official holiday in America, like it should be. It's free and you don't have to like Guinness or anything (I signed and I don't even drink), but you do have to be 21. Everyone celebrates St Patty's day, not just us Irish, so if you think it should have "official holiday" status, clink this link and sign!

Happy St Patty's Day everyone! Oh, and feel free to pass this message on to every person you know.

I signed that a while ago...love my Guinness any day of the year, but it would be great to make St. Paddy's a legal holiday! Then the parades could be on the real day all the time, like they do in Cleveland!

How about that? A green holiday. Sounds like a good plan. If it becomes official, I wonder if government offices will close their doors for yet another holiday? (LOL)
Happy St Paddy's Day!!

I know my office would! It's not a government office, but my family owns and operates it so with us being Irish, ain't no way we're doing business on St Paddy's Day!

Just get all government and postal employees to sign the petition, it'll pass in an instant.

Just because a lot of American culture takes part in the festivities of St Patrick's Day doesn't mean the US should adopt a Patron Saint. There are plenty of St Patrick's Day Parades in England too - but England's Patron Saint is St George, not St Patrick.

I don't believe that accepting St. Patricks Day as a Holiday is adopting a Saint for America. Americans love Holidays. We have Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, MLK Day, Colombus Day and few others as official American Holidays were most all people either get a paid day off or at least Holiday pay. In Texas we get Fiesta as a paid Holiday. I think it a grand idea to allow the ole Irish into our Official Holiday Mix. I would hope to see more cultures get Officially recognised holidays as well not just the Christian days.

I so agree with this proposition and even though i'm not Irish as i'm English and Italian i love the Irish history and culture. Infact we should have Irish culture centers like they culture centers for other races in this country.
