Default Elephant symbol supersition

I've been doing some research on elephant supersitions.

I've learned that it can be a symbol of wisedom, strength, good luck, the remover of obstacles and power (specially in libedo)

I've also learned that having an elephant statue in your house can be a symbol of good luck (as long as the statue's face is facing Towards the door)

someone was telling me they had a wooden statue of two elephants a mother/baby set. They said the baby has it's trunk up but the mother's trunk is down. What does this mean? anybody know?

Elephant Meaning

***********
In general to answer your question... there are many statues and images that do not depict the elephant with its trunk up, there is no real meaning behind it just a realistic portrayal of the elephant. Elephants do not walk around with their trunks up all day. Do read too much into certain statues as having a meaning. If it was made to be a piece of art the artist was most likely more concerned with authenticity then making a sell. Elephants with trunks up tend to be made solely to sell. People will purchase up trunks more often then down.
If the mother’s trunk is in the direction or caressing the baby then that is a show of the protection natural instinct of the mother to care for its young.
There is no harm or negative meaning in a down trunk elephant… Only if YOU think it to be so will it be such in your life.
I have loved Elephants all my life. Even as a child I had written to Santa one year asking for an Elephant also asked him to hide it since I knew mom wouldn’t like a elephant under the tree. LOL.

I am a Republican and happen to have 5 elephant statues that people have given me through the years. Not sure if they are good or bad luck....politically speaking....but I like them anyway.
