Default Today's Happy Sun 26 April 2009

Heart-warming animal stories!

Have you heard of Tarra the elephant and her pet dog, Bella? The elephant pets the dog with her trunk.

The Elephant Sanctuary, Hohenwald, Tennessee

They both live on an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee. They are best buds. I like stories like these. Plus, for no particular reason that i can think of I've always liked elephants and hope we don't kill them off! Maybe it's like someone I once knew said: even if we can't be in the wild ourselves , it helps us to know it's out there.

What's made you happy recently?

Today I'm happy because my college-kid son is feeling better. He came home for the weekend on Friday, and made the mistake of eating a steak sandwich he had made for himself before leaving and then left in a hot car for a couple of hours. He spent yesterday being extremely unhappy, but by last night had reached the point of being able to keep down saltines and Gatorade. This morning, he's back to his usual self again, and told his dad (the family cook) that he's hungry enough to eat a horse. And he now has an up-close and personal understanding of the importance of food safety.

MWBW.....College-kid, huh? When do our kids grow up and learn?? Oh, I know, I'm still learning myself. And I am far from college-age.. Glad that he is better.

I'm happy today because the weather is great here and I can finally get outside and do some yard work!!

Misdwestern Bookworm, glad to hear your son's OK now! One of my rules of thumb: "The best lessons are the free or cheap ones"

Thanks for sharing, bjh!

Glady your son is feeling better.

Respect for refrigeration. Sometimes makes you wonder how our ancestors survived and explains all that salting, pickling, curing and drying that got done before modern conveniences.
