For High Rise buildings-- How tall is to tall?
How tall is to tall?
Chicago Spire when finished will be 156 stories
Burj Dubai will be about the same 156 stories.
I'm sure their is or will be more projects coming that won't be far behind.
Do you guys think that 156 stories is to tall?
How tall is to tall in your opinion?

Well, it would be nice to have a skyscraper that's taller than the 1400-foot Sears Tower, which has been the tallest building in the United States since the mid 1970's. But, I heard that work on the Chicago Spire has stopped until the economy and the real estate market improves.

I know it might sound dumb to some, but ever since 9/11, I've had a fear of high rises.

The best way to face fear is to confront the source of it, and it shouldn't be skyscrapers, but terrorists with their disgusting mindset.
In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt - "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself".
I'd say build them as high as technology allows it.

If a aircraft crashed into the Chicago Spire( hypothetically) at the 60th floor and you are at the 156th floor you are almost 100 stories above the crash which basicly means you are doomed if the building was to collape or if a fire was to spread up the building

I think a good time to call it quits is when you can see the top of the clouds below you

Too tall is when if you have to walk the stairway and the elevators are broken ! That’s too tall
Too tall is when the post office gives the upper half of the building a different zipcode number!

On Emporis.com, with any city in the world, you can see visionary buildings that were never built, or just considered, or may yet get built. In Tokyo, there's a visionary building that would, at 11,000 feet high, make the Sears Tower in Chicago look like a tall headstone in a cemetery.
