Why are folks so nasty towards eachother?
Road rage, mean looks on the subway, mean looks in the grocery store, ignorance online, over zealous mean opinions, flat out rudness and terrible customer service.
What gives?

Not everybody is, but I think we just remember the mean and nasty people more. On the other hand, are you staring at people on the subway or in grocery stores? Maybe that's why they're giving you mean looks!
Seriously, it seems to me for the most part that people just couldn't care less, but if they tried to be more friendly (although I don't think you should have to 'try' to be that way, you just should BE that way) maybe it would be contagious.
I'll start: today I will be nice to the gal coming at me with the sharp pointy metal objects (aka the dental hygienist!)  |

I think people feel mistreated by society most of the time and develop an "I'm going to get you before you get me" attitude. I catch myself doing it sometimes, if I've had a bad day. Also, just watch the news. It'll get you on edge. Everyone is getting taken advantage of and everyone is a possible victim.
Other people are just nasty and can't help themselves. Most have been mistreated as kids and learn to look at others as hostiles rather than just people going about their business.
Just my two cents....

I think it has to do with all the PC crap.
People sometimes look for an insult. They can take the simplest statement and turn it all around to where it was derogatory towards them.
Thank goodness the majority isn't like this.

I think it has to to with entitlement attitudes. People feel entitled to be treated nicely, when they don't give the same in return. They've been told all their life that they're special (As the saying goes, "Yeah... you're special... just like everyone else".), etc. so they feel the world owes it to them to treat them nicely.... and you're not as special as they are, so you don't deserve anything. In life, ya get what ya give. Give a smile, get a smile. Don't feel like someone owes you one just 'cuz you're alive.
