I am pondering change, happiness, and this idea of "following your bliss." How do you discover what your bliss is? How do you go about discovering or deciding what to do with your life? How do you lead a more mindful, spiritual, and happy life?

How do you motivate yourself to do the necessary things to achieve your personal goals? Why aren't all the steps to achieve your goals enjoyable? If they aren't, should that tell you something? Or, is that just life? ????
I always lived by this two mottos:

"Dance as if no one can see you
Sing as if no one can hear you
Love as if no one has ever hurt you
And Live as if Heaven is on Earth."

" I have followed my Endevours with great diligency and love, and cast away the body I love."

If all else fails, then listen to this group called October Project. The first and self-titled album is the best one. I've declared it as the soundtrack of my life. All my friends agree when they went through a transitional phase in their lives. It helped them to focus when ever they listened to the cd. It describes lost and longing. Love and betrayal. It's kind of folky, but the harmony from the leadsinger is hypnotic!

If all else fails after that, leave to a foriegn land for a year, if you can. I left to Japan for one year due to assignment in the military. I made the point to myself for self discovery and not to include anybody in my transitional phase. Try to do this, and make it a point to learn a different culture aside from the one you're accustomed to. It made me a well, more rounded person.

There is the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Good luck!

Being a geek, I always KNEW I was the world's worst dancer. It never stopped me from having a lot of fun on the floor. I also knew that dancing was the most fun you could have in a vertical position. I didn't care. I asked every girl I saw to dance and maybe got 1 in ten to say yes. But I think I put everything into it.

Dance is an expression of the inner soul and I think Snoopy had the right of it when he just danced to the music in his head. My give a sh*t button busted when I started boogyin' down.

I sing to myself in the car and smile at people when they notice. I sang to my kids - Irish lullabys and old sea chantys. They didn't seem to mind. I can't leave a karaoke bar without attempting to impress myself.

I laugh at myself on a daily basis, because I can't seem to find a reason to take myself all that seriously. If I poke fun at myself, it's because it's a lot nicer than doing it to my friends, and I don't make enemies to spit on.

My boys seem to have gotten my sense of irony, and have no problem pointing out lifes little foibles.

I just wish some of the world's leaders had a better sense of humor. Life is too short and too precious to throw away. Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.

Wow these were all great, mine has always been

"IF you want something done, do it yourself, never wait on someone to make you happy, you define your own happiness"

And to quote my mother -"There's more than one way, to skin a cat" Whatever
Meaning if one direction to a goal doesn't work, there is always another way, don't give up.

ON that note I need to follow Raptures advice "live for today and not in the past"

Lol...I love some of the quotes and things passed on to us from our mothers and such. I understand the meaning behind, 'more than one way to skin a cat', but dang...literally imagine that!
I was talking to a Korean friend of mine the other day and she didn't understand a joke involving the toe-pinching/wiggling adage, "This little piggy went to market", so I tried explaining it to her and trying to explain to her why a little piggy would eat roast beef and one would go to a market and stuff...guess what? In Korea mothers don't wiggle their babies toes and recite that...lol
I thought about the cradle rocking high in the tree-tops and falling with the baby still in it after the wind blew and decided to pass on explaining that one to her

Think of life as an appetizer; once it's gone, the main course arrives. Better yet, after that, there's dessert!
