Are teenagers really slow moving????
Okay, here's the thing. I drop my daughter off each morning at her high school -- she's a Junior. I'm usually in a line of other cars dropping kids off. I get so frustrated when I see these teens getting out of cars.
First I see a car door slooowwwly opening. Then slowwwly out pops one leg, then slowwwly an arm holds the door, then the top of a head, and finally slowwwly another leg hits the ground and like a slow loris, the teenager finally ambles out of the car and in slow motion moves slooowwwlllly toward the sidewalk.
Now, this is repeated many times over. And then there are the VERY SLOOOWWWW teens who walk between the cars -- like big bowling balls that just sit in the lane and don't move. It's like this car, which if it ran them down could kill them, was invisible.
I'm commenting to my daughter about how sloowwww these kids are and she's like: "Get over it, mom, it's how teenagers move!"
I don't remember being slow like that as a kid, but these kids are SLOOWWWW!
Anyone else observe this behavior? Any other quirks that seem so typical of teens that just drive you mad???
Just needed to vent! Thanks!

Haha!!!! I've seen this as well, it must be that summer vacation disease that everyone gets this time of year. Because it's so close you can almost feel it! lol! But I still moved fast hoping the day would be over soon.

A lot of teens tend, when alone or with adults, to be a bit disassociative, self-absorbed.
Then they perk up and become animated with each other.
Either way, they might move slowly because they are simply not paying a lot of attention to that aspect of what they are doing.

Yes, I've witnessed this, and it aggravates me because the generation is so very different from mine. When I was growing up, kids from my generation knew what was expected of them. It seems today that there are either less expectations or none at all. I think a lot of the behaviors witnessed today in teens comes down to lack of discipline, structure, and respect for others.

Yeah, we always had a mass exodus, through the doors before that bell even finished ringing! Looked like a bunch of lemmings, minus the cliff, (good thing there wasn't one on the other side of the doors ). It's a wonder we didn't kill each other!

I've always walked fast. But teenagers perk up slowly. I think it's that unconscious reaction from not wanting to go to class!
