Default Halloween is my favorite day. Anyone else?

I love Halloween, but it seems people don't really get into it much anymore, at least here in L.A. I think it has to do with some people thinking it's the devil's holiday or something. But I've done research on Halloween and its origins in Ireland, and it's not evil at all. It's just a time to have lots of fun and dress up in crazy costumes. Am I the only one who wants Halloween to be a real holiday? At least a half of one?

My Mother in Law does a HUGE party for Halloween every year. Costumes are a must, and no repeats are allowed. This year we are going as the Union Soldier and the Southern Belle.

I think Halloween is big for her because it is not considered a religious holiday, and she does not have to worry about being PC with it. She can relax & have some fun.

My brother, bless his heart, has a rule. He tells his boss that he will work Christmas, T-giving, NY's day, etc., but NOT on St Paddy's Day. It is his Sacred Obligation to have the best St. Paddy's party in Chicago. He lives about a half a mile from the South Side Irish parade route in Beverly, and all the cop and fireman cousins show up, wives, kids and all. Rule is that you have to sing at least one solo Irish song, and he has the music for ANY THING Irish.

I liked Halloween as a kid. As an adult...no interest. But I have to say... I was in Newport, Rhode Island one Halloween and I was with a friend and we were walking around the old town in the dark and came to a cemetery. We walked all through it and found ourselves on Benedict Arnold's tomb! It was a classic creepy Halloween with that slightly chilly breeze that would pick up and rustle the leaves which were already beginning to fall, etc. The hairs on my body just stood up. It was that creepy... and ... kind of fun

Halloween only became fun for me once I had kids. I think its a fun time for the kids but I don't consider it a holiday.

We used to have a lot of trick or treaters on my street and in my neighborhood when I was younger. Everybody got into it and decorated and everything. Then 9/11 happened and it was like a ghost town on Halloween for about three years. But the year before last, our neighborhood association put together a block Halloween party, and everyone decorated their mailboxes. We gave out prizes for everyone who participated. We had a lot of fun. It just goes to show that many people really enjoy Halloween, but someone else has to get the ball rolling. I hope to do a haunted house this year, but not too scary for the kiddies. And I'm still going trick or treating even though I'm 31! I'll bring my son with me, I guess. LOL!

Hubby and I get into it every year! So, absolutely! Halloween rocks! I'm sad to hear it's not big in L.A. I hope it's okay in OC! (BTW, I was in Hollywood a couple of years ago close to Halloween and it was a hoot!!!).

Okay, I'm singing "Halloween" by the Misfits!!!

We're 35 and always dress up. I was a witch for many years, but more of a cute one. I changed it up this past one and put on my saddle shoes with some 1950's outfit...hee hee! It was fun!

We enjoy the little ones that come to our door for candy! We give out tons of it It's fun too to see my nephew dress up...

Yep, we looove Halloween more than Christmas!!! Hee hee!
