Do you have a tradition when you buy a new home?
We are closing on our new home today !
Not without hurdles and jumping thru hoops. Buying a home is always a tedious process.
I was wondering if anybody has a tradition, or special something you do the first time you arrive at "YOUR" new home ?
Of course, there will be the bottle of bubbly , probably followed by the first celebration and the raising of the American Flag. Then hanging the crucifix over the front door.
What have you done????

Congrats!!!!
We don't really have a tradition (prolly because we are just now in the process of closing on our first home)
But I AM going to make him carry my big fat butt over the threshold, I don't care if he gets a hernia

I go over and spend a couple of days doing some very HEAVY DUTY cleaning and any painting or anything along those lines before moving any personal belongings in. If there is anything at all that I want to change and can afford to purchase the materials to do so right then, I just do it before the house is full. It is so much easier and enjoyable that way.
Congratulations!

Yes, we will be spending the weekend cleaning up the land. The house was built in 2006 and only slept in 8 times. It was an older man fishing retreat. So not much work inside.
Outside, well like I said, he wasn't there much, so typical clean up is needed. It is a wooded 5 1/2 acres. On one acre the seller started to build a shed, and never finished, it apprears a few of the neighbors had placed some "hard to get rid of" junk on the 1 acre. So we will start with the yard, put up a fence for the dogs and build a front and back deck before we move in. Fortunately enough, we are currently in a company rental, and will have the convience to do so.

Well, going to do the walk thru at 10 a.m.

Woo Hoo, this is going to be one roller coaster of a day. Hopefully ending in one big splash in the Bubbly !!!!
Wish me luck!!!!

Congratulations, theqbaby, and I hope your tired selves enjoy some nice bubbly at the end of the day.
Outside of the champagne, I can't think of any other new home traditions I've enjoyed. But then we've only moved into new homes twice ourseves--hoping for #3 soon.
