Talk to this guy if you want to move to land yet maintain that close to the water location.
Your photo reminds me of this lady who loved living down by the Guadalupe River. Her house has been feature twice on TV. Both of those times it was during floods. The first time she had a standard ranch style home set on foundation. The water arose and up went her home. Floating down river magesticly and making TV news magic! I think that was during one of 50 or 100 year floods.
Second time it made the news it had rebuilt been on stilts. That way if it flooded again the water could just flow on under her beloved home by the river. Well as you might guess the second news maker was in fact another flood this time I think it was 200 or 300 year flood. And if you haven't guessed it - it was, her beloved home, was again floating down river. Yes folks she put it up on stilits so the river only to have the river rise and pick it up on it way south.
I wish I could find the darn photo or news reel on that one. The second time the house was literally completely on top of the river. You could see her windows open, curtain flapping in the breeze and on the front porch were her chairs for sittin'.
She was bound and determined to rebuild again but the state changed the river zoning laws and her property was de-zone from house building she had to rebuild further back. So far we haven't had any bad flooding in that area... so she is safe. I guess if we have a 500 year flood her house might make it yet again.
I felt sorry for her the first time... second time was hilarious! still sad but even the news casters thought it was odd it was the same lady's house. I just wish I could find the footage to show you all.
LOL.. I don't know if you can bring the river to my backyard, but I'll take the doghouse/cottage.. It would be a nice gazebo for the doghouse that I have now..
