Do you wake up in the middle of the night with epiphanies?
I don't know if "epiphany" is the right word, but do you ever wake up in the middle of the night with a thought or realization clearly in your head? Such as scary things like, Oh, my God, one day my parents are going to die? One day *I'm* going to die. Just right out of sleep?
Sometimes I have less troubling ones, too, like asking SO, "Do you think we could paint the kitchen pink and red?"
(Mumbling) "Sure, whatever..."

I wake up in the middle of the night with alien words on the tip of my tongue.
In my dream life, everyone speaks a different language, a language which I am convinced does not exist outside my mind.
I have become rather obsessed, at various times in my life, with reconstructing this language and getting it down on paper, but at best I can usually only recall a few snatches or an isolated word or two immediately upon waking.

Yes!! Sometimes I do this.....most recently it was a nap that I woke up from but it was more of a "duh" moment.
Ya'll know the poster Aksarben? Well, I was fairly new to this forum and for no apparent reason whatsoever when I woke up it hit me that his screenname is "Nebraska" spelled backwards!!
I guess I spend way too much time here at C-D.

I wake up many times with a thought on my mind that would make a great short story and I try to wake up enough to jot it down on a notebook I keep on the nightstand for that purpose..Sometimes I wake up with an answer to a question I saw on another forum here and jot it down..But most times I can't bring myself awake enough to remember it and the thought is then lost.

Aksarben is a racetrack in Nebraska. Might have something to do with it.
I solve problems when I sleep and wake up in the middle of the night with the solution. Things like how to build a specific part of a deck that has me stumped, or the answer to a crossword clue I couldn't get in yesterday's paper.

Great ideas come to me in the middle of the night...too bad I haven't been able to cash in on them.

I guess it's true that your mind is still working on things, even when you don't realize it. Kinda spooky...
(I forgot to mention in my OP that it was Dbl-r's post about dreaming that made me think of this subject...)
