Default Today's Pet Peeve Independence Day 2009

Streets with no street signs. And when there IS a street sign, you can't tell which street it is referring to.

....or signs where the letters are so small, you can't read them until you're on top of them and miss your turn. There are some like this in the Palm Desert area that are really hard to read, especially at night!

Good one. Ironically out here there is an area where its 'the last dirt road with a gasline marker, take a left, at the big rock painted red go right about a mile...'

LOL @ StudedDude's street sign!

Mine is about street names you can't even pronounce or spell.. like 1st Ave.. Some of those names make me think I'm in Russia or some other foreign country! Why can't we have street names like.. Main Street!

Seriously, my pet peeve on this 4th of July, otherwise known as "Independence Day" is our nation's state of Dependence on big government, which contradicts one of the principles our nation was founded on - NO government intrusion in our lives, which we're probably going to see more and more of in the future! I'm not blaming only one particular political party, but every politician in Washington that allowed this to happen in recent years, and yes I do place part of the blame on Bush.

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems, governmnet IS the problem!". Those were the words of former President Ronald Wilson Reagan in his innauguration speech on January 20th, 1981 that still echo a true sentiment to this day. I know some of you will disagree with me, and that's fine, but in my opinion government should only GOVERN, not rule our lives.

Despite the problems our nation faces now, we should still be grateful and proud that we live in the United States of America.
