In case of an Emergency
Are you or your household prepared? or even on the job?
Do you have bandaids, tape or the necessary things for cuts, burns and such?
How about a fire? Do you own a fire extinguisher?
or
how about something as simple as a flash light?
Seems I have these things in general but finding them when needed is sometimes the emergency. How about you?

I have a great first aid kit in the hall bathroom.
I have a toolbox with two flashlights and extra batteries always on the ready.
I have some pills to drop in water to make it drinkable.
I also keep a quick packing list in case I have to evacuate.
This comes from growing up in hurricane country.

first aid kit, flash lights, generator, back up heat source, for winter, emergency & cell numbers, for neigbors & their work, school, .........
I also know who else, in this villiage, with a population of 80 (eighty) knows how to preform CPR, with me, incase I ever need them.

I have lots and lots of candles. Now if I could only remember where the matches are.
Many years ago when Mt St Helens blew I was living in Washington state. I did not know it had happened for several hours. Thus just about everyone else had already gotten to the grocery store ahead of me. Seeing how I usually only have 15 minutes of food in the house at any time, I had to really lower my standards as to what I was willing to buy. The store was almost picked clean by the time I got there. We ended up only getting like 1/32th of an inch of ash. The stores were all restocked the next day.

Who are they gon'a call? I C E needs to be in your directory.
I’ve got all that and more. However the real question here and just as import as all of these items is:
In Case of Emergency = ICE
Do you have your cell phone directory with an I C E phone number for the emergency responders to use and make a call for you when you can’t speak for yourself? If you’re unable to tell them “who” to contact who do you think they’ll notify? Don’t have them call me because I’m not the important person in your life. However you may want to have I C E with your significant other's work number or cell phone number put in your phone directory of your cell – but name it as I C E instead of Bob, Tom, or Alice because the emergency responders don’t know who these people are by name, thus ICE is something they look for. Do it ~ NOW!
My ICE -1 numbers are the wife's office number to call
and ICE -2 is my wife's cell phone number to call
and ICE -3 is "dial a prayer" it's the end for me.
calling all of the other Toms, Dicks, or Harrys will be of no value

Check! Plus a CCRN/CEN certified emergency room nurse for a DW to use them . Plus I have taken the CPR/advanced life support and emergency response courses from the Red Cross within the last 3 months as well as my oldest son (age 11 and already interested in knowing how to care for himself and others)

Several fire extinguishers that are kept up to date, as well as interconnected smoke detectors throughout the house; and practiced escape routes for the family to follow coupled with a set meeting place outside away from the house.

or, how about something as simple as a flash light?

Being an Electrician I have more flashlights around than Wal-mart. Along with emergency lights on the stairway in case power goes out, they come on automatically. Being an outdoorsman and camper I also have Coleman lanterns and extra fuel for each type.
plus a generator to power the entire house in case service is out for a long time. A back-up heat source for the winter as well.
Now don't get me wrong here, I am not the type to expect doom and gloom and have everything "for when it all goes bad". That would be no way to live IMHO, I just happen to have 4 kids and a wife that I want to keep warm and safe in case power goes out because of a blizzard or other weather related incident. I have 4 active boys, the first aid training is a must have if they are going to be anything like I was growing up (and I fear they are ). Scrapes, cuts, sprains and even breaks I have resolved myself to having to deal with as much as I really, REALLY don't want to. If the DW is here, I turn those duties over to her as fast as I can and am not too proud to admit it. She has the talent and experience way above what I even want to have dealing with that stuff, but she isn't always right here.

Do you own a fire extinguisher? NO............I know it is NOT a good answer but it's the truth. I've been saying for years we should buy one.

I did this! I hadn't thought about it, before, but I have over 300 phone numbers stored on my cell phone! Thank you, for the reminder!
