ya i agree with you cemeteries take up so much usable land!!! with 6.8 billion people on this planet..... creamation and or burial at sea is the best solution for an ever shrinking planet.

My children's specific instructions are:

- incinerate my body to a crisp handful of ashes

- bury the ashes at the base of the flamboyant tree, located by the natural waterwell located in my family's property in Borikén.

Burial at sea is fine if you don't care about family having a place to come visit. (No biggie with me.)
And it's nice to go back to mother ocean.
Statistics are uncertain, but I have some concerns about cremation polluting the air. Lots of people want to be cremated, but few people want crematorium in their backyard.
Natural Burial is a biodegradable process and does not take up usable land; it is a form of giving back to the land. Green spaces are as important as urban spaces.
I do have a 'organ donor' designation on my driver's license, if I am not too wracked with some awful disease when I die, I guess donating my body to science might be a nice final exit.

my burial plot has already been paid for and I'm using it (when the time comes)
funeral service will be held at church with family and I'm hope a few friends there

funny story, my aunt died last week (that's not the funny part), funeral was held at the church she attended on Wed at 11am
after service, out to the cemetery for grave side prayer
the last Amen was said and then (the funny part) the Nuclear siren test goes off every 1st Wed of month at 12 noon and everyone forgot, the siren was on the corner post of the grave yard, that was the longest 3 mins
I said to my cousin, that is enough to wake the dead, he got to laughing, my mom looked at me really mean
now, if only something like that can happen when I go

I don't really care as I will be dead but I would say either a "green" Woodland burial or cremation. I leave it to my SO to decide what he feels his best for him really. Burial rituals are more for the living than the dead.
