I would sooner go ahead 200 years than go backwards. 1810...children dying of common childhood ailments, and my knowing about all the future advances would be so frustrating.
I'd be afraid to go ahead 200 years, but I'd be curious to know of the advances of science etc.

Back to the past? No thank you. My father was born in 1904, my mother in 1908. From their stories of what it was like growing up then - I'll pass.

I'd choose the future. I want to know if Bill Gates is still alive in 200 years. I want to know what history has to say about the people who affected our time.

I want to buy a bunch of blue chip stock and put it in a secured vault so it will be available to me when I get there. Without it I'm sure I'll be a pauper!

My first action will be to get those stocks, sell them (If they are worth anything) and buy a ticket to Mars, or perhaps a moon of Jupiter. Even if they're worthless, the knowledge I have of life today would probably be enough to sustain me financially.

Yeah, I'll go forward.

I thought about 200 years back, back to the 'old days' but only for the day and only if I can come back to present-life because I would miss my family.
But...on the other hand, it could be miserable. No deodorant, toothpaste, styling mousse (for my hair), no ice cream, and especially, cellphones!! Yikes! Though its funny, I would do without these things on a camping excursion....

The the 200 year time frame. . .

I would pick the 1920's. I would want to live it as a wealthy person so that I could have my home embellished with art deco designs and style. Experiencing the phase into talkie-movies would be exciting. Also like a lot of music from that era as well asthe clothes. It was also a rebellious time.

Also, I'd like to live in New Orleans during that period, too.

I would go forward 200 years. I have no interest in living without electricity, tv , the internet and I don't feel like riding around on horse or contracting smallpox, polio etc.
