CHURCH HILL, Tenn. — A mother of a kindergarten student was charged with assault Thursday and banned from a school after officials said she walked into a classroom, pointed a toy gun at students and pulled the trigger several times.

The incident happened Tuesday, a day after the shootings at Virginia Tech, and scared teachers and students.

Church Hill police and Hawkins County school officials met with Heather Nicole Berg, 26, earlier Thursday before charging her with misdemeanor assault. She was already banned from Church Hill Elementary School for one year.

Berg had a "silver toy cap gun," police said.

Now somebody like that is, obviously, a walking timebomb IMO. More should be done than just banning her from school. Should be thoroughly investigated and evaluated, most likely put away. Unfortunately, people will wait until she really hurts somebody. Like a broken record.

If that was a man, O' Lord...... I would say 60 years in prison would be about what he will get. But wait a minute, it had to be a woman, no man is allowed within ten miles of any school any more.

If it was Boston, probably a 8 or 9 year old boy and the gun would have been real. Again daddy would have been to blame.

If this were a man, I would hope he wouldn't get any more of a punishment than a woman. That is an odd statement. It reminds me of, "If the guy were white he'd get off scott free but because he's black, he's going to prison." A falsity for sure. Remember O.J.?

The child can live with his/her dad if there is one in the picture. If not, I'm hoping some of the relatives are more stable than the crazy mom and can raise the child because she needs to spend some time at least in a mental hospital.
