Wait until a person without a will and no children dies in your "family". You will see who is related and who isn't. A common progenitor is required. It is not "to each his own."

Adoption is a legal relative.(to another poster)

Sounds like you've had some bad experiences but this isn't universally true in every family. As I've stated before, I consider the husbands and wives of family members to be part of our family even though they are not blood relatives.

Chatteress u r very evolved or either the in laws in ur family are good people, but NO way do I consider those related by marriage in our family anything other than married to a blood relation with exception of two uncles and in their cases I like them better than the my aunts. However money make everybody act "different"

Marriage makes you legally related too.

Most people don't function day-to-day by inheritance law.

Many a time, I've been very grateful that people didn't keep their words!

Paricularly, younger, as a rebellious teenager, and I'm so happy my parents never kept their words!

Haha. Make sense. I'll let that slide.

I hate that, especially when I am in the middle of making dinner.

Looks like the grocery store that we usually shop at has quit carrying another one of our regularly purchased items.
