Chatteress, this is done to employ less people with hope that you can resolve your issue without speaking to live person. This saves companies money, which hopefully, will result in you paying less for their service.

Getting personal service and paying more would be nice. Many of us have to hit "O" with hopes that they companies then employ more people.

Your pet peeve is a common one! It takes like 15 minutes or more to resolve anything!

What happened to the good old days when pregnant women had the modesty and grace to wear mu-mu's, or at least baggy clothing? Oh, I suppose many defneders of these modern mommies-to-be will counter my peeve with the tired old adage, "Hey, it's a natural thing, having a baby; why bother to cover it up?"
LOL--well hell, takin' a dump is natural too, but most of us don't flaunt that in public.
Cover up ladies: we don't wanna see.
OOH Yeah! This drives me bonkers especially when the ladies belly button is poking out.

How about unsolicited calls about home improvements or refinancing mortgages without first checking to see if you are calling a home owner or apartment renter.

And don't get me started on the put together furniture manuals
How's about those copier machines that guides (supposedly) you on clearing the jam?
