Have some pride get some cement for those teeth!

Sorry if I offended anyone its just a peeve
when I am old for dentures I am going to cement my teeth in solid
instead of making that awful chattering noise.
Imagine how it would be to the person wearing them. Certainly much more annoying to them than to others. My mom had dentures, and she was a fanatic about them, the problem she had was they didn't really fit her right, and she even had more than one set trying to get them right. And that paste crap they use doesn't always work well. They do have some other kinds of high end dentures now I guess, but many people couldn't afford those anyway.

I wanted to do this in a fashion that would have made Shirley McClain in Terms of Endearment look lackadaisical.
That type of littering and disregard for public property just irks me ... I dunno if it's an LA thing or are folks just becoming more boorish by the minute!

I've been venting on the getting older thread about my visit to a shop to get some photos
developed, think I should have been here really!! Why do they keep inventing new gadgets
before I get used to the old ones? It used to be so easy. You took the film in the shop, and
got it developed. Now you have to mess about with a machine to decide which pictures you
want. It took me forever to figure out how to do the timer on a video machine. I became an
expert - then they get rid of videos. Now I've got a DVD which I can't figure out how to use
the timer. When mobile phones first came out they were simple, you made calls on them. Now you need a degree in engineering to make them work. I've got Judy's old one upstairs.
It's covered in dust. It's only been used once since Judy gave it me, by my 12 year old
grandson.

Peeve of the day: please don't call me to chat from your cellphone while you're on the move. You keep getting disconnected, there is all kinds of noise, status, garbling, interruptions, etc. You keep talking and I can't understand a word you're saying. Call me when you stop moving, have a solid connection and are not distracted. Otherwise, please just don't call!

There, I feel better.

No bother its a pet peeve page or forum
I see your point all i was stating is it bothers me.

Someone speaking to me in my face and has moth breath bothers me too.

Yeah maybe they have an underlying condition ,fact of the matter its still bothersome or at minimum makes you uncomfortable.

Two sides to every story , I get that part.

Just try to remember this is a peeve thread , I wold not have stated this in some other forum.

Today, for the second time, a deaf man was on the train begging for money, playing the pity card. I hate this so much cause every time people pull that kind of BS, it makes it harder for disabled people to get a real job because the employers hiring people think of those beggars when they look at a disabled candidate and think that's all we can amount to. If you're deaf you're eligible for SSI, food stamps, and Section 8 Housing. If you need income, there are ways to get it that don't involve sending a negative image about deaf people to the hearing world. Now most hearing people on the train will have one idea of deafness--that man, and all the other people like him who use deafness to play on people's pity.

Add to that: why in the world would he come up to me, of all people? I'm blind and I was wearing a sweatshirt with the name of a school for the deaf prominently displayed on it. I was chatting with my friend in sign language. In other words, from his perspective, I was deaf-blind, or "more disabled" than he is. (And I did used to be deaf-blind--which is why I'm at a school for the deaf, so I can work with deaf-blind people.) Why would he be coming up to me for money? By his logic, shouldn't I be in more need than him? The last time this happened, I was chatting in sign language with my girlfriend who uses a wheelchair. What is going through these people's heads that they think somehow they can beg people that had to work just as hard, if not harder, to get to where they are? If he has a hard time making it deaf, what makes him think blind people and wheelchair users have it any easier??

Sorry but this drives me nuts because the Deaf community will go on all day about how Deaf people aren't disabled and it's their identity and so on--which I completely agree with! But then some members of the Deaf community go and use their deafness to get money from strangers? So hypocritical I don't even know where to begin. Ugh. This whole thing just pisses me off.

End rant.
Ha that reminds me of yesterday some homeless guy asks me for 35 cents.
Normally I would tell him to buzz off or tell him I was broke myself.

Any rate I gave the guy the 35cents , guess i felt sorry for him.
Then he asks me to go inside and order the food for him.

I politley declined.
That was a first a bum asking for pocket change
then wants me to order the freaking hamburger at Wendys
Geez do I have sucker written on my body someplace????
