I saw on youtube how they drain the oil and fill with liquid glass, or other harmful liquid, then rev the engine so high till it seizes up. Probably to make sure no one else can drive it anymore? It was sickening, actually disturbing. Many of the cars they did this to were very nice, already effecient.
If they were efficient they would not be accepted in the program.
I'm asking for help with this because I'm still taking that medicine for (here I sit having gone through this crap for a month now and I cannot remember the name of what I have) Whatever-it-is-I-have and my brain is not at peak operating speed.
So I take a clunker and trade it in. My clunker got 18mpg (does that qualify or is it too high?) anyway I get that Honda Fit and now I'm at 30mpg. So I'm getting 12mpg a gallon more.
I drive an average of 12,000 miles a year. So, if my math (and my typing) is right (help!) I'm saving 1000 gallons of gas every year. At $2.50 a gallon (guesstimate) that's $2500.00 a year. If I divide that by 12 months I'm saving a little over $208,00 a month. So in Bluewillowplate's case I only need to come up with $25.00 a month to pay for a new car.
Okay everyone did I do it right? Somehow I just don't think so. Today is one of the worst days for thinking since this all started.
And it's Shingles. I remembered!
That math can't be right. The medicine they give me makes simple math almost impossible to understand. This is nuts! I should be able to figure this entire problem in my head and all I can do is look at it and know it's wrong.
12000 miles with an increase of 12mpg. Sigh.
For every gallon of gas I go 12 miles farther.
At 18mpg and 12000 miles I use 666.66 gallons.
At 30mpg and 12000 miles I use 400 gallons.
Hah! I knew i messed up. So the difference is only 266 gallons, quite a bit less than my "medical" math gave.
266 times $2.50 is $665.00 divided by 12 is Slightly over $55 a month.
Quite a difference from my intial number and the additional money required is $178.00 a month.
I think I stand corrected by myself...

What?
well we will really see what the future holds!!! in twenty years there will be no suv's left on planet earth as long as fosil fuels are our main source of energy>>>> we have been wasting the gas since the first barrel of oil was discovered!!! and for mpg i say all auto companies should have to produce a vehicle that gets at least 50 mpg the tech is there the insentive is not, it's called greed!!!!!! and when i say suv i mean any car that is a gas guzzler.
and i think this thread should be on the politics and othe controversies forum.
