LAKE WORTH, Fla., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A young man who broke into a house in South Florida early Saturday met his match in a gun-toting 91-year-old man, police said.

Palm Beach County deputies found the Lake Worth homeowner holding the alleged burglar at gunpoint, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

He accidentally fired the gun, the bullet hit the pool deck and ricocheted into his leg. Thank God it wasn't more serious.

With the assult and sometimes death of so many elderly at the hands of young criminals looking for an easy mark, I applaud this man for being armed.

Guns - the great equalizers.

Awesome! I'm sorry he injured himself but it could have been worse. A lot of people without a weapon have died trying to stop a burgler.

Apparently this wasn't true as he in fact had a burglar enter his home.

I'd say this was one lucky young man. If could have been a shoot first ask questions later mentality. lucky no one else was shot too with his poor control of that firearm. Im glad he was able to defend himself and render a relatively harmless ending. Im sure he saved many others from the exploits of this fool.
