Just could never quite figure out what kind of pleasure one could get by doing crap like that! It's like bashing mailboxes or something similar. I'm at a loss!
I agree, I've always said that these hackers might as well break into your house and smash your PC with a hammer. It has the same effect when they infect it with a virus that cripples the machine or destroys the hard drive. I think every single one of these thugs should spend the rest of their lives in prison. The problem is catching them since many of these hackers are over-seas, often in countries that don't cooperate with the FBI. It's a big problem and unfortunately, it's just getting bigger.
Did you know?... every 5 seconds a computer gets infected with a virus?
That wouldn't surprise me, and the scary thing is, some of viruses will force the email program on the infected computer to send out emails that can contain viruses to every person on the contact list, so you can imagine how many computers can potentially get infected.
Anti-virus programs will catch such viruses before they do any damage, but that also depends on how often the virus definitions are updated on the computer. That's why companies like Norton's and McAffee make a fortune from consumers, who have to subscribe to the updates otherwise viruses unknown to the anti-virus program will infect the computer. It's ridiculous that you buy the anti-virus product, and you have to pay extra in a certain number of days to subscribe to the virus updates.
I know there are laws out there that prosecute individuals with serious penalties, including prison, for infecting computer systems that are critical for the operations of a variety of agencies and corporations, and internet service providers (ISPs) that can get their networks infected, and infect a lot of the computers that are on their networks. Thankfully, ISPs do monitor their networks to prevent such problems.
I also wish those individuals who spread viruses on systems get his/her computer(s) infected to see what it feels like to have to clean up the mess they caused on the many other computers they infected.
LOL I don't know why I am so vocal on these threads tonight. I never get like this in the OT area... it must be a full moon!!!
