Do you look at contributor's former threads/posts/profiles?
I often come across a post written by someone I'm not CD-familiar with and go to the poster's profile and previous posts just to see what they're all about. Although some posters don't complete their profiles, most people in general are pretty consistent when they write, and give away a lot of information about themselves on different forums even if simply doling out short posts.
For instance, I've been surprised a couple of times when someone who I thought was incredibly level-headed and who regularly gives advice to others on relationships suddenly posts a thread on a relationship problem they're having which, had someone else posted the same thing, they would have sensibly answered in a heartbeat.
New CD contributors often pop onto a thread defending those who we know and love as total idiots in defense of the idiot when, if they'd taken the time to have done some research, would understand the silly ridicule. So many examples, so little time and I don't want to turn this into an epic.
So, how many of you actually look at contributor's former threads/posts/profiles? Just curious!

I do it all the time if its someone who Im not familiar with. Most times, some of the the threads that are started are so ridiculous, that you just know they are by someone who has less than 5 posts. Which usually means someone who normally posts here created a new profile just to start that thread.

I know I am new to this forum, but I'm not new to forums in general. Generally, I do not look up a profile the first time or two. I try to give the poster the benefit of honesty and sanity. It never surprises me that within one or two posts, I can form a general opinion and THEN I go and look at prior posts. Very seldom am I surprised and usually prior posts only serve to confirm the judgment I've come to.
Once in a while, I find a total blithering idiot who is fun to string along or mock - a few times; then the stupidity becomes tedious. Engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed combattant is not a fun sport. I will still sometimes respond to the idiot's thread simply because it is an alert to others new to the forum or to that idiot.

Sometimes, there is an incredibly interesting thread or a very insightful post that touches me and I get extremely curious to know more about this person.
Sometimes someone compliments another person on his or her beauty and I get curious to see if I agree.
I don't particularly spend more then 1 minute on this person profile, but there are couple of members who I consider intelligent, different, provoking and when I see that they replied to a thread, I'm looking to what they have to say, even if I disagree.
Oh, and thank you Capt. Dan. I'll post new pictures just for you soon.

I'm far too self-absorbed. Feel free to check out my profile, though.
