Yeah, that is true IF you even heard of the product I bring by your door. A lot of people have never heard of the vacuum I bring by. Now I ask you this, how would you know you want to go buy a product if you never knew it existed to begin with?

That is your prerogative. Getting wet is part of the job. I'll just ask for a towel at the next house.

Like what? A couple harsh words? Unless you shoot me, I don't really care.

Funny... especially since I recall you saying earlier that you wave off or speak through a window. It would be equally as easy to reach through or break through the window and grab you if I actually WERE a criminal...

Sure, there's a few that will open the door and a few that will actually buy from you, but it's a small few (no wonder the commissions are huge, right?...enormous rate of rejection).
|
How are you able to predict the number of persons who allow me in a door, and even more so the number who purchase my product? It's very egocentric to assume everyone has the same "everyone in the world is out to get me" syndrome that you do.
As a matter of fact, I have a 48% rate on the doors and a 75% closing average. My rate of rejection isn't high at all (but yes the commission is).

1) I think you missed the part where it was mentioned that this is the oldest profession in America, why do you think it is going to go away any time soon?
2) People don't want it? There you go again, speaking for all people. Why then, do I make $1500-$2000 a week if people don't want what I sell?

How else do you suggest marketing something that benefits people's homes that they wouldn't believe unless they saw it in their own house with their own eyes?

I just called the police on another idiot...he comes to my door to tell me he buys houses...well good for you, do you see a for sale sign in my yard...NOPE, not one there...

If he wanted to buy a house there is an abundance of them on the market.

To me "No Soliciting" means I do not want you coming to my door, disturbing my privacy and getting in "my bubble". I do not want your magazines. Or your water treatment system. Or your candy bars. Or anything else you think that I need. And especially not your religion. Whichever one it may be. It's no different than "panhandling" for money to me.

wow, someone actually trying to justify door to door soliciting.. this is almost as amazing as meeting one of those people that drive in the left lane, won't get out of your way when you clearly are going faster than them and justify it with people don't need to be going faster than I am.. I actually work with with one of those people and most of us had a few choice words for him when he actually admitted to that.. mostly words that would definitely be filtered if posted..
but anyhow, I don't pretend to be a lawyer, so I don't know how the law is on this, but I would figure a no soliciting sign means pretty much what it says and if the person selling something ignores said sign they probably aren't going to be greeted in a friendly manner. Admitting to this and still somehow feeling you are justified in doing it is pretty much how the dictionary defines ignorant..

I would NEVER let someone one in my house to demonstate a vacuum. Wasn't the Boston Strangler a plumber? . Maybe in the 50's people were naive/stupid. Not today.
