First Time Posters...
I'm presuming that we all post in our own state forum, or states that we have lived in. Has anyone noticed a post that is asking for information on an area where they know they can help, but are reluctant to offer help because it is the posters first post?? I have gone through great lengths to give people information only to look back a few weeks later and find it was their only post and they obviously never looked back to see if any one had answered their question.

Yes, I have seen quite a few first time posters ask questions, receive many answers and never return. I assume that many read the responses, but that is just speculation.

I think some posters who are new, ask a question, and their question is answered - and they don't look back or don't respond. Nothing wrong with that.

I think it would just be polite for them to come back and say thanks for the responses, especially if they were helped in any way. It can be frustrating if you do research and refer them to specific websites, give direct information, etc. and never have a response. (See the Venting thread!) Maybe engaging them in dialogue first with general info or a question would be a good.

I've received PMs from members asking for assistance rather than post their request on the forum. I answered, several times to individual inquires and didn't get a howdy-do! For about one month I actually turned off access to my PMs in disgust and disappointment.
Yes, we are here to help, but a thank you really doesn't hurt even in our now-syndrome society.

I can count on one hand the "thank" i've gotten helping others with their inquiries on many seemingly trivial matters.
Oh well!
I guess i'm a glutton for punishment! ( i still enjoy helping others when possibly though...)

What I think happens is that the person is surfing the net looking for answers. They come upon the CD forum and then they post a question. Then they forget they posted and never look for the answer, meanwhile 10 people have provided some very useful, first hand information.
