I am the same way, live on 5 to 6 hours a night most days. I will lay there for a while, than slip out of bed so as not to wake my wife and go sit in my arm chair. Read some technical, or play solitaire on the PC helps redirect the brain and might let me get back to sleep. If I go more than a day or two without sleep, I will take something or take a hot bath and reset the cycle of six hour sleep.

I usually average about 5 hours sleep if I am lucky so most nights I watch tv,or play solitaire on the computer and check to see if anything is happening here on C-D.

Exactly why I go to bed as 'early' as I do. There are times I wake up around 2am and have to turn on some boring tv show to try to go back to sleep. On average I get about 6 hrs...if I went to bed any later, its going to be a bad day next day because Im one to wake up a lot.

Like others, I function best on 5-6 hrs. of sleep. About 5 times per year I'll have a "catch up night" where I actually sleep for 7 or 8 hours, nothing more. There IS no falling back to sleep once I'm up...it's impossible. Drives hubby crazy sometimes as I'm never there to snuggle when he wakes up....course, the coffee is always ready. I generally get up and do some quiet house cleaning, or as in this morning (up at 3:25 a.m.), I started the coffee, sat down here at the computer for about 10 min. while I waited for it to brew, then got up and went to work on some of the little projects in the kitchen, that is nearly completed. All we've got is the trivial stuff left....drawer dividers, putting things away, organizing, trimwork, etc....countertops should be finished today. Ugh..... PTL, we're almost there!

A lot of early days are spent out in the workshop, doing little projects that won't wake up the rest of the gang. Summer is one of my favorite times because it gets light so early in the morning...and there's no one up but the birds and me, out toodling in the garden with my cup of coffee.

Mine is the same way, I will start my sleep cycle setting what I want to dream about. Most times it is boating, or building something. I have done those dreams so much they can be dull, and I will drift off. I have tried the tea, and drink some every night, but it just makes me get up to recycle the tea to the states water supply. Warm milk is good too, but never puts me to sleep. I have found if I take a hot bath I will drift off easier. My last resort is a sleeping pill. I think the sleeping pill the doctor prescribed is called Ambient and it works. I use it only after a few days of no sleep. In my family we all are sleep deprived, and I have wondered if it was genetic.

If I slept more than 5 or 6 hours I'd probably feel like poo...

When I can't sleep I get up and maybe watch some TV, go set in the garage and have a drink

More often than not I do not have these problems sorry
