If I need to emphasize something I either underline it, color it, or change the font. These font options are available for our use. As long as its not difficult to read why should there be complaints about a poster making their post look different? I find it hard to read posts with 15 smilies throughout it. I haven't PM'd the poster to complain though. Everyone has the options to make their post look original. Variety is the spice of life.

Just the other day I was thinking that I like your bold black type. I can read it better, and I'm not a spring chicken with wonderful eyesight.
I read the gripe about bold lettering from some poster as well as not being able to read green type. At the time, I was doing green. I changed to purple and one poster commented that it was better than the green.
I am anal and that's why I like boldness and color too. It looks better to me and what looks better I guess is part of my anal personality. If others can't read it, just bypass it. It won't hurt my feelings at all.
I can also find my colored posts easier when looking for them without have to view them via, "Find All Posts By KewGee". Now if everyone changes to color, I guess it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
By the way, to that one poster complaining about bold and all caps, I do agree that all caps is like screaming, but I don't feel the bold is exhibiting a post that expresses importance.

Well, the type in black was what I was saying adequately described the posters opinion. I colored the rest in red to show the added rudeness.

Rance , Are you suggesting that I ignore rude comments? Believe me, I wish that my nature would let me do just that. For some reason though, I don't have it in me.

All bold hurts my eyes and generally speaking isn't the "proper" way to type stuff I guess. When you create a word doc, the standard isn't "all bold letters" ... you actually have to make the words bold. Bold is typically used for emaphasis so if you are trying to emphasize every word then I guess you made your point. I see what you mean about "other ways" to make your emphasize but the standard is bold. I'm not claiming to be Ms. Expert ... just my 15+ years of using computers, writing essays, documents etc. for school and stuff like that.

I've always liked a thicker font. Some fonts are way thicker than this one is in bold. I guess if I were using a font no one was familiar with, you couldn't tell whether I had put it in bold or not. As a school teacher, I have to continually make PowerPoints, Newsletters, Calendars, Parent Notes, Posters and Signs, so appearance has always been my main focus. Bolder font looks better on most of the things I make. If a font is naturally bold, I don't usually click on bold. As far a being proper, I could go on and on about things I see that aren't "proper".

You are entitled to your bold. I was giving you my 2 cents, which may not be worth much, but it still worth 2 cents.
The examples you pointed out usually has to have everything emphasized so I can see how it would be important to have everything in bold - with the exception of the newsletter. In newsletters, at least in professional ones, not everything is in bold, usually titles and such. Yes, there are "natural" bold fonts. You can also type in 14+ point fonts and everything pretty much looks bold, too.

Please just use a non-bolded font like Arial, Helvetica, Tacoma, or Trebuchet. Don't get fancy, now. Not everybody is running a Windows PC. That way, everybody will be happy.
