Today's Question(s):

Lets find out about multi-tasking

How many of the following can or have you done at the same time:
Talk on phone
Surf the net
Read email
Send email
Read a book
Have a conversation
Watch TV

The first four (which I guess includes having a conversation) I have often done at the same time. I often read a book during commercials when I watch TV. I can't say I've done them all at the same time though!

Bonus Question:

How soon after you get up do you turn your computer on ?It's one of my first actions.

Do you leave your computer on all day ? yes

What time of the day do you turn your computer off ? Right before getting into bed, usually around 11 or so.

Extra Credit Question:

What was the last thing or person that really tested your patience ?
The hospital here in Ponce. First they said they didn't have a contract with BC/BS to do biopsies, then after we had the insurance co. call them they said they don't do them based on MRI and Dr. orders alone. I don't believe it but ended up going to San Juan since I don't want to wait any longer trying to talk them into it.

Just for Fun:

When you go to the grocery store
Do you bag your own groceries ? Some stores here make you.
Do you prefer paper, plastic or the reusable cloth bags ? Cloth if I had enough (I get a lot when I go), paper if the stores had them here (since they hold more) but usually end up with plastic bags.
Sort the groceries as you put them on the belt ? Not unless I am bagging them and then I might pick and choose as I put them in the bag.

Have you ever let anyone with 1 or 2 items go ahead of you ?
No never. Just kidding! - of course! - as I said I get a lot when I go!

How many of the following can or have you done at the same time: I've done all the following, besides read a book, at the same time. Book reading is always just that - no other interaction. If I'm on the phone or with someone in person, I prefer to give and get 100% attention unless we make it clear that there will be some multi tasking going on.
Talk on phone
Surf the net
Read email
Send email
Read a book
Have a conversation
Watch TV

How soon after you get up do you turn your computer on ? Most days it's still on from previous day.

Do you leave your computer on all day ? usually, yes.

What was the last thing or person that really tested your patience ? something i read caused me anxiety - does that count?

When you go to the grocery store
Do you bag your own groceries ? rarely
Do you prefer paper, plastic or the reusable cloth bags ? usually paper or plastic - whatever they give me.
Sort the groceries as you put them on the belt ? yes

Have you ever let anyone with 1 or 2 items go ahead of you ? yes

What was the last thing or person that really tested your patience ? A phone operator....Last week Texans had a chance to sign up, via computer or telephone, for an Appliance Rebate. Started at 7am. and would run until the funds ran out. I started at 7am...with 3 computers trying to connect to the site, plus land line and 1 cell phone calling. I finally get through around 10ish on my land line...and this operator ans. with: "Texas Rebate Program, how may I help you"...I tell her I want to sign up. She tells me to call the # I just reached her at. I convey this...I get.."Oh"...um...and she proceeds to read the web site to me....ends with: "Ok then...thanks for calling"! I say NO..don't hang up...And tell her she is suppose to sign me up for the Rebate Program. She's says Oh...(again) and tells me she can't help me! I ask her why is she there...and she says: " To ans. phones"...that's my job. I ask her to let me speak to someone who can help me....and she hung up on me!
Finally got through to their website around 1ish...$309 worth of rebates...and I worked harder than the moron ans. phones!

If it's Take A Wild Guess Day, should I answer these questions after thinking about them... or by taking a wild guess?

How many of the following can or have you done at the same time: I surf the net while eating breakfast and lunch. I will do almost anything while watching tv. Other than that, I'm not a big fan of multi tasking. I prefer giving conversations, books, driving, and work my full attention.

Bonus Question:

How soon after you get up do you turn your computer on ? Immediately, it's part of my wake-up routine.
Do you leave your computer on all day ? No

What time of the day do you turn your computer off ? The moment I'm done with it. If I need it later in the day, I'll turn it on again.

Extra Credit Question:

What was the last thing or person that really tested your patience ? I left my city forum after one too many posts by an angry young kid who uses that forum (and me) as his punching bag whenever he has problems in his personal life. I used to have patience for this, but I have cancer now and the aggravation was hurting my health. So, after three years of daily contributions I lost patience and walked away. One of the best things I've ever done. I found this forum, and must say I love how lighthearted and thought provoking the threads are here. Wish I had found this forum years ago.

Just for Fun:

When you go to the grocery store
Do you bag your own groceries ? Yes.
Do you prefer paper, plastic or the reusable cloth bags ? Reusable.
Sort the groceries as you put them on the belt ?

Have you ever let anyone with 1 or 2 items go ahead of you ? Yes, I'm retired. I'm rarely in a rush anymore.

Husband Appreciation Day Everyday is Husband Appreciation Day for me. Especially if he makes the coffee.

TAX DAY!

If you are getting a refund....

If you have to pay in....

Two great TAX quotes to make you smile.... or cry....

Will Rogers
Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even.

Robert A. Heinlein
There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.
