1955 - Congress orders all U.S. coins bear motto "In God We Trust"

Wow, Earth Day, Ocean Day, Arbor Day (this weekend) and Window Safety Day. I guess I need to remember to be safe when looking out my window at the Earth, Ocean, and Trees.

Today's Question(s):
In honor of "Ocean Day"

How many of the worlds different oceans have you seen(in person) or been in ?

Most of them. Used to be into diving back in the day. Now I just float around and look at the sky.

Bonus Question:

Were you born before or after the first Earth Day celebration ?

Before. But that's ok, I'm not ridiculously old.... it's not like I was born before the Earth was created.

Extra Credit Question :
Now that April is coming to an end

Did April live up to the "April Showers" in your neck of the woods ?

No, wish we had more rain. We're supposed to get our rain from Arkansas but they use it all up and send us hardly any. Those Arkansas people are rain hogs!!!!

Just for Fun:

Do you have Fireflies where you live ?

Love them!

We all have them ,so lets share your funniest "Unique Neighbor" story ?

One neighbor likes to climb out his attic window and sun bathe on his steeply pitched roof. He has a deck with a hammock.... but for some reason he prefers to lay out his beach towel on the roof.

Word of the Day:

We used to have an older lady living across the street. I had a big black lab that sounded fierce when he barked. He got out once and when I got home, here was this big bad dog cowering on our front porch while this little old lady pointed her finger at him. I never messed with Edna after that either.

Today in History:
1823 - R. J. Tyers patents roller skates I got a brand new pair of roller skates and you've got a brand new key!
1955 - Congress orders all U.S. coins bear motto "In God We Trust"
1970 - The first Earth Day was observed -- with the purpose of reclaiming the purity of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the environment we live in. With the slogan “Give Earth a Chance,”

I know a few of these!

The puppy of mass destruction has struck again! Hubby found my favorite pair of black pants in the back yard....they're history....got home yesterday to no A/C....wires chewed thru....I think he needs new chew toys.

I have been in the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and also passed through what is know as the Southern Ocean during my time in the Navy. I traveled through a lot of Seas also. The Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean sea, The China Sea, The Sea of Japan, The North Sea, and the Inland Sea in Japan to mention a few.

Bonus Question:

Were you born before or after the first Earth Day celebration ?
before

Extra Credit Question :

Not like it should have. We already need rain, and summer is not here yet.

Just for Fun:

Do you have Fireflies where you live ?
Yes, I read different areas will have different species of fire flies, and they recognize their species by the flash pattern of their light.

We all have them ,so lets share your funniest "Unique Neighbor" story ?
Now I feel bad, I don’t have a funny story, they all seem normal as far back as I can remember. I hope they see us as the same, but I bet they are busy writing bits about their weird neighbor right now.

Were you born before or after the first Earth Day celebration ?

I seem to recall being in HS, as a student, for the First Earth Day, and as a part of the Student Government's efforts, making posters for the halls, and putting up bulletin boards where we could. We also cleaned-up the grounds around the school, and some of the clubs and organizations planted things native to the area -- azaleas, dogwoods, some perennials.

1970 - The first Earth Day was observed -- with the purpose of reclaiming the purity of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the environment we live in. With the slogan “Give Earth a Chance,”

I still have, in my button collection (the type you pin-on), several Earth Day buttons, including the first which does read Give Earth a Chance encircling the world.

My Father, die-hard conservative, saw it all as 'some more of that Hippie crap.'
