May Day has been a traditional holiday celebration since ancient times. On this day, spring festivals and Maypoles are common. The Maypole is a tall pole that is covered with streamers, flowers and other decorations of spring. People grab hold of a streamer and dance around the pole to ward off ol' man Winter for good.

What do you absolutely have to get done today ? I don't know yet because I didn't receive a phone call yesterday afternoon, as promised, to confirm a showing of one of my few personal listings or to let me know that I needed to cancel it
What would you rather be doing today ? VENT: Know whether or not I need to show the house between 10:30-11AM THIS MORNING. After I coordinated and scheduled the showing yesterday the other broker called me back that his client had something else scheduled and with the rain that has been 'usually' hitting around noonish the past few days, we needed to do it in the morning (gorgeous gardens on almost 2 acres). Said his client told him he would call him in about 2 hours (this was around 12:15PM yesterday) and he would call me.
All I asked for was a telephone call yesterday so I could cancel the showing in advance so people could go about their biz - or be prepared to show it (normally work from home on weekends). Now I have to track down the other broker and find out IF we're showing the house this morning and if not 'when', as well as get at least partially prepared to do so if I don't get confirmation until the 11th hour. Of course looking out the window, looks like it could start pouring rain at any minute. End Ventlol

Have you ever participated in a May Day celebration ? We were stationed in Hawaii when I was in the 2nd-5th grade. May Day was a huge celebration. I can still sing "May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii", but I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. I still remember the hulas, too. Memory is an odd thing. It's quite selective. We had a May Pole and we did dance around it....winding and unwinding the very long ribbons. Great fun. Thanks for the memory.

Have you ever participated in a May Day celebration ?
Yes, I went to Earlham College and they put on a major traditional Olde English May Day celebration.....all students and faculty are costumed and have parts in the festivities. A team of oxen bring in the May Pole and it is set up on the "Heart" or central lawn of the campus. Madrigal singers, strolliing players, jesters, jugglers.......Yes I have participated in my share of Mayday Celebrations.....dancing and "gathering peascods" what ever they are.

God Bless my Grandmother who taught us to make may baskets and hang them on neighbors doors filled with flowers and pretty surprises.

What do you absolutely have to get done today ? I already got three large garden plots weeded and cultivated this morning....over the winter my partner scattered bird and deer food about.....and unfortunately.....what ever they missed.....germinated.
