It used to be black too, but now a large number of people are wearing black to weddings. I don't know what the 'rule' is and I also think it's all about where you live.

I think young people have relaxed both the no-white and no-black rule. But, I'd ask the bride how she feels.

My niece got married a year ago, and my sister wore cream/ivory, but the pictures came out as white. I would not do white ........ other colors to choose from.

I believe the rule is still Do Not Wear White To A Wedding....apparently it puts the bride in competition with person in the white outfit.
Gosh ILNC....I bet you would look lovely in any color! YAY

Hmmm, I guess it depends. As long as you didn't look like the bride, I would think it's ok. Then again, if I were the bride, I wouldn't want anybody else to be wearing white ... at least not all white. Maybe if you wore a shawl around you that was a different color or something.

Hmm, what about a fancy formal wedding? I wonder if you can wear black then?!

Most every wedding I've ever been to has had people wearing black, I guess we all don't know what we are doing.
My friend had a formal wedding last summer, her bridal sash with her white dress was a beaded black sash and there was lots of black and white being worn, as well as plenty of black (all her bridesmaids wore black dresses).
