I never understood why because smoking makes everything stink it seems like thats grosser than dip at least if im spitting in something its not getting all over the place. And it doesnt make me stink like smoking would.

Everyone has their reasons I'm sure. But that shouldn't be as big a concern as it's legal. But 15 or 20 years down the road you'll most likely wish you hadn't done it.

It depends on how your body metabolizes the tobacco. The way some people metabolize it they just don't get cancer.

I believe that many things affect different people in different ways. But, did you read that some where or is it wishful thinking? Reason I ask is because even if that is fact you can't know how your body will metabolize it...

I think smoking is gross too. But I think dip is worse on the gross factor because it's like chewing on wet tar. Spitting with just saliva is gross to begin with - throwing some nasty looking stuff in there and wow, major turn off. I don't care if someone "spits into something" so it's not "all over the place". It doesn't matter where it goes - I still have to see it coming out of your mouth and that is NASTY. I dated a guy who's roommate used to leave his cups of tobacco spit out around the apartment. How is that NOT gross?

In school, one of my teachers had this rule about gum: you were allowed to use it as long as he didn't "see it, hear it or smell it" - that included seeing you chew on it or finding it underneath chairs or desks. Needless to say, most kids didn't bother because what is the point of having gum in your mouth if you can't chew it? So if you can somehow chew tobacco without anyone around you having to see it, smell it or hear it, I guess it wouldn't matter. But I highly doubt that is possible - even if you manage to chew it with your mouth shut, it's still pretty obvious what is in your mouth and just knowing what you're chomping on will make a lot of people not want to be around you.

That's a weak argument. I don't need to eat feces to know I wouldn't like it! I'm not exaggerating, that is what dip is like to me.

Even assuming I might like the way chewing tobacco makes me feel, that doesn't justify all the grossness that comes with it. Some little kids like to eat their boogers - it doesn't matter that they like it, it's still gross and parents should discourage it, at least around other people. If you want to chew tobacco in private, be my guest. But you have to accept that to many other people, it's disgusting. Therefore, you're offending them by doing it around them.

Nothing like seeing a huge lump of chew tucked into the folds of the mouth. When the person talks, smiles or laughs you get to see the brown spit ouzing around the teeth, and sometimes at the corner of the mouth. Oh, I fogot to mention the small particles of tobacco lodged between the teeth like green spinach after a meal. That being said, the worst part is when the person spits this foul smelling saliva into an empty soda can/bottle. It's so lovely to witness this.

I also do not like smoking.
