I will be driving to Ottawa during Canada Day long weekend. Since hotels are expected to be expected during this time, I was planning to book one early. Which area should I be looking for in order to make the most out of the trip? Any good hotels in the $100 range?

I love Ottawa on Canada Day! But it will be a crazy zoo of people. I would look at the Holiday Inn or Quality Inn near the Byward Market if you want something around the $100 mark.

ETA: I see the Holiday Inn in the Market is gone. Perhaps the Days Inn on Rideau?

Hi, thanks for the advice. Days Inn is gone as well. Quality Inn is available but at an exorbitant price. My wife was making fun of me because I am planning so early. It turns out I am actually late. Finally made reservations at Chimo Hotel through expedia which fit into my budget.

You should be fine at the Chimo as it right across the street from the St. Laurent transitway station. From there you can hop onto a transitway bus and get downtown in about 15 minutes. I would not recommend driving into downtown Ottawa on Canada Day.
