Truth, above all, in this fishy guy's opinion.

Knowledge would be right up there.

Understanding would seem a natural byproduct of those two.

And if peace of mind accompanied the above, that might well define heaven - or at least a life well-lived.

This spirit seeks the feeling of wonder. The smallest thing can make me stop, look and think.

My family calls it my shiny object syndrome. My curiosity gets me off track, and sends me in a million different directions.

Truth, knowledge, and the satisfaction of peace are all part of wonder for me.

Along with a good sipping Tequila.

Did I hear Tarot, Trout? I keep mine wrapped in my great grandmother's silk in my Ninja Turtle lunch box.

Ron, I think crow must be one of your totems. It's one of mine. They're curious, intelligent, wary and love shiny things. I'm in the process of befriending a pair that nest across the bay. I've been at it for two years. I've learned they love grapes, cut-up apples, watermelon and peanuts (though their cousins, the jays, tend to get to the peanuts first).

A sense of wonder is a "wonder"ful thing. I think one of the greatest gifts a person can give themself is to learn to appreciate the small things. Because they abound. That's a huge part of nature's appeal to me; there's interesting stuff around everywhere and it's free. As a child, I loved to watch ants, fish, birds, frogs, crayfish, bees, beetles etc.

60 years later, I still do.

I love that Cupper. I breathe in the Universe from it's beginnings, and it has always felt empowering and humbling.

It is. One of my favorite places is about 20 minutes away from me and looks like this:

I'll be out there tonight observing the harvest moon. It is an amazing place, with the occasional cougar, bear and wolf going through the valley. The park contains the most important Albertosaurus bone bed in the world, which was first discovered by Barnum Brown in 1910 and rediscovered by Dr. Phil Currie in 1997. It also was used as a buffalo jump by First Nations people at various different times.

It's almost a mini-Grand Canyon there.

Harmony, among other things.

Union. Knowledge. Peace.

What a beautiful view Cupper. Enjoy your Harvest Moon. I hope it is a special night.

My sister and our daughters will be sitting out tonight with a fire, on our pond. We will exchange our hopes for each other, small gifts, and share some herb.

The moon was flat-out gorgeous last night and I look forward to a replay tonight.

I probably won't make a fire (since the Jays are on the west coast and the game doesn't start 'til 10) but I'll sit out on the deck with the flying squirrels and watch the moonrise.

The flyers won't be watching. They'll be too busy snacking on sunflower seeds and peanuts.
