One of my favorite songs and this is an outstanding version done by Seo Linn.
I hope that a few others on here are interested in Celtic culture. This is a song to welcome home Grace O'Malley, the pirate queen who was imprisoned for raiding English ships as the Irish fought for their independence.
I really liked both of those songs. This is my most current favorite and I’ll just tell you that while I’m a straight woman, Olivia is sexy! . She’s singing with the Decemberists.
The translation of Oro Se Do Bheatha Bhaile. There is one that I like better, but I can't seem to find it again. I don't know the name of the group that is singing this version. It's much more traditionally done
The woman of the song returning as a liberator, Gráinne Mhaol (sometimes known as Grace O'Malley) was chieftain of the Ó Máille clan in the west of Ireland. She is a well-known historical figure in 16th-century Irish history, and is sometimes known as 'The Sea Queen of Connacht', one of the most famous female pirates of all time.
It's worth looking her up if you are interested in History. The British Isles have had a very strong effect on some of the Pagan religions. Many of our beliefs originate there.
