VICTORVILLE • Two adults were arrested and up to 20 people have now been identified in a Wednesday brawl among parents during a kindergarten graduation ceremony at Puesta Del Sol Elementary School, a school district official said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested two women Thursday in connection with the fight, which stopped Wednesday’s graduation ceremony and put the school at 15887 Academy Street on lockdown. No parents were allowed on campus for the sixth grade graduation assembly on Thursday.
One witness reported that one of the brawlers had a weapon but that couldn't be verified by the Daily Press.
The brawl involved Hispanic and Latin families that attended the school. The fight happened outside on the school grounds and towards the end of the ceremony is when all hell broke loose.
The department of the sheriff of San Bernardino County has mentioned that the eyewitnesses have asserted to them that numerous mothers were caught up in a quarrel. Eventually, the quarrel became bodily in a field in close proximity to the graduation observance or ceremony. Subsequently, what happened was that some males then entered the scene and the confrontation became a full-fledged brawl.
Whereas the assistant superintendent for education services said that more arrests could follow in future for disrupting the harmony of school premises. He also added that the authority is still looking at whatever they can do to hold those people accountable but they cannot control the “parents’ behavior”.
