I think children can learn a lot younger than they do. When parents had to clean diapers, children were potty trained a lot younger.
Oh yeah..... We lived in the Orlando area when ours first learned and we took the kid to Disney when she first used the toilet, and again when she first pooped in the toilet. Talk about an EXPENSIVE freakin' party!!!

Yes, this is the method I used to potty train my son at 2.5 years, and it worked great as soon as I followed the steps exactly. He was trained within 30 minutes, no lie, and only had a couple of accidents after that. It is not exactly Dr. Phil's method - it was developed in the 1970's by two special education professionals named Azrin and Foxx and detailed in their book, Toilet Training in Less Than a Day. Dr. Phil endorses their method and has condensed their book into one web page on his site. It's kind of "hidden" in the Dr. Phil site - here's the link, hope it doesn't get taken down: Dr. Phil.com - Advice - Potty Train Your Child In Less Than a Day. It has worked for everyone I know who has followed it correctly. Hope this helps!
