Out of the four, I like Luke and Lucas the best. Louis and Luis are not attractive names to me.

is this a baby or a puppy? how do you just "get' a baby? Haven't they had a few trimesters to think of the name, and why would they follow the advice of a friend who gets opinions off of a message board?

The parent needs to choose the name that speaks to them. Whichever ones that fills their hearts with love is the one the parents should choose.

Not everyone picks names prior to babies being born. I always wanted to meet my babies before thinking about names.

My first child wasn't named for 30 days. The second's name came to me quicker, within a couple of weeks.

Seriously? How can you NOT think of names during the 9 month pregnancy? I know a couple of kids who were not named immediately, but only a matter of a day or two after leaving the hospital. And usually because there was some in-fighting in the family over it all.

I also know a woman who changed her babies name after caving into family pressure (old family name) in the hospital then standing up for her own name choice once she was home and regained her strength.

As for the OP, I like Luke and Lucas.

I would go with Lucas and call him Luke. If you name him Luke, everyone will assume his name is Lucas anyway. Louis has way too many nerdy associations for me, sorry.

I could ask the same thing! How could anyone think of a name before meeting a baby?

Babies are individuals with different personalities. I wanted name that conveyed who they were, not a name simply because I liked the name.

It's not a big deal. Just because it's different than the way you and many others do it, doesn't mean that it's wrong.

There was no fighting involved. I simply do things differently.

Luke or Lucas are OK, though I wouldn't call my baby one of these names. I'm not fond of Louis. Luis, which is actually the same name as Louis, if they are hispanic, otherwise it may sound a bit weird...
But most of all, parents have to like it, and it has to go with their last name!

I love the name Luke. (My favorite nephew is named Luke and he is just the BEST and I love him to bits so I am entirely prejudiced. )

I don't like any of them. The parents need to choose what name they like. Afterall, they're the ones who will live w/ it, not us.
