Oh, and kel6604- you better not let your kid even say bang band.. he may get detention, recommend to go to therapy sessions and be labeled "that kid" for the rest of the year...lol
Amen. I have a rough and tumble little boy who thrives on cops and robbers, good guys and bad guys, playing soldier, etc. All important moral lessons that should be encouraged. The feminizing of schools is a sad chapter in our education system and imo is helping to create a generation full of boys who struggle with moral gray areas, struggle in school and find the only place they can work out their "boyness" is in a video game. SAD.

I would love to know where this "Dodge Ball Is Evil" idea came from. Millions and millions and millions of us played dodge ball, hung from our heels on the monkey bars, and were generally rough and tumble at recess and the VAST majority of us turned out just fine.

I say turn them out when the bell rings, and bring them back in when it rings again. Kids need to play on their own using THEIR imaginations, not the adults'.

It would be nice if we could, but the school would be asking for a lawsuit.

Did you know Red Rover has been banned in a lot of places too????

Lol, we had monkey bars over cement and the aluminum slide that burned your behind!!!

To the OP....I have no problem with cops and robbers at all. Kids fall, they get hurt, it happens. Particularly boys. Unfortunately, all the new moms these days think duck duck goose is the only safe way to play.

Red Rover has been banned? I am tremendously glad my sons are grown because I'd be picketing the school with a "Free Red Rover" sign over my shoulder.

My kids actually had "surfing" as a P.E. class. They had to pass a swimming test and I had to sign a paper saying I had no problem with them getting sand up their butt. If they swallowed half the Pacific they figured they'd had a pretty good morning. Dark ages.

Thats too dangerous IMHO. Someone can get poked in the eye, someone can trip and fall and god forbid everyone isn't picked the exact same number of times.
