We won't even get into the whole Miss Piggy / Kermit thing - classic fem-dom situation - or Bert and Ernie sleeping in those Hollywood beds - you just KNOW what happens after they turn the cameras off...and why do you think they call him BIG Bird???
No, my friends...Sesame Street is Satan-inspired - the Dark One chuckles every time a new episode is shown, because He knows there will soon be more souls for His dominion.
We're always about a week behind since we watch everything on hulu, but did anyone see Saturday Night Live skit poking fun at the Katy Perry/Elmo thing? Subtle, but funny.
I was listening to the radio and they had a spoof song about this whole thing. The one line that got me was "What does Katy Perry fear most on Sesame Street? Cookie Monster with an empty glass...nom nom nom nom."
I read some of the comments before watching the clip, and thought it was going to be way, way worse. She's supposed to be wearing dress-up clothes. Probably more cleavage than was advisable, but certainly nothing I would be concerned about my preschooler seeing. I agree that pushing over-sexualized images on kids is a real issue, but this doesn't bother me as much as many other examples. I think it's the dress-up thing that makes the difference; it's very definitely being depicted as something you don't wear normally. Like someone noted, it looks like a fancy skating dress. Dress-up clothes.
Frankly, if you're upset about your kid seeing Katie in something like that, you should keep them home, wrapped in cotton with the doors locked and tape over their eyes, b/c they see FAAAR worse than that out at Walmart or hell, even church.
To not show it was ridiculous and frankly, cowardly.

That one gave me good dreams. Many, many good dreams.
