The general perceptions is teens are young adults....this opinion on cd i have NEVER heard anywhere else. Anytime i get together with any of my friends who have teens they refer to their children as such.

So in Europe 11 year olds can sign binding contracts like other adults?

You are really missing the mark here aren't you? I am not equating a teen as an adult but someone between the age of youth and adulthood.

You said they were young adults.

If I have a yellow card the word card is a noun, the word yellow is an adjective that describes the card. So if I have a young adult the word adult is the noun, the word young describes the word adult. So-a young adult would be an ADULT. 11 year olds are not any sort of adult.

You said they were young adults. That would mean they were adults. Adults can sign binding contracts. You are missing the mark.

Age of consent for what? Sex? yes, many states have 16 as such an AOC.
AGE OF CONSENT CHART FOR THE U.S.
Note that NO state is below 16, and some are 17-18.

Marriage? Not so much.
State-by-State Marriage "Age of Consent" Laws - Divorce & Family Law Center

Voting: 18 nationwide.

Age of majority (adulthood): 18 for 47 states, 19 for Alabama and Nebraska. 21 for Mississippi and DC. This generally means the age to sign contracts, take out loans, etc.

Don't want to hand out candy to teens? Don't do it, but don't do mental gymnastics to justify it.

Our kids trick-or-treated until they were 12......after that, they became part of the "live-animation" monsters in the yard. hehe! Our yard was set up to where we could see kids coming...the older kids slipped out of the side door and snuck out to hide, so the trick-or-treaters encountered something that hadn't been there when they came up to do door! Oh man, we use to have a ball on Halloween!
